So I want to be able to record myself singing over instrumental tracks, just for fun. I've tried GoldWave and Audacity, but I think there's something wrong with my computer settings because it always speeds my sound files up so that they don't cync up with the track. It matches up for the first few measures, then it slowly gets faster and faster. I've tried different microphones too, and I've even tried recording it on my phone and converting the files on my computer. Even then, it speeds me up.
Does anyone know of a good program that could help? Or does anyone know why this is happening , and if there is anything I can do to fix it?
That's an extremely odd issue, especially considering that you've had it with both Audasity and Goldwave. There are other pieces of similar software, such as wavePad Sound Editor and SoundForge; both are accessible to at least some degree. I would recommend getting hold of a different computer to see if the problem persists; otherwise, you may be stuck troubleshooting your own machine regardless of which software you are using. I hope someone else can shed light on that particular issue because I've never heard of it and wouldn't know the first thing about fixing it.
Yeah, I think it really might just be my computer. It's freakishly out of date with basically all software. I might try recording on someone else's computer to see if it's something I'm doing, haha. Trouble is most people around here with computers don't have JAWS on them, but I think I could run a demo version just long enough to troubleshoot or what have you. Thanks for the input, anyway. :)
What about trying a dedicated recorder. For example you have the new Olympus LS14 if I remember well the model. It records with extreme quolity and you even can make multi-tracking there!
It is very affordable!
It means you can record your voice and than instruments in different tracks!
Talking about a software of course the most accessible would be Sonar but this is a more expensive solution!
Hope it helps!
i agree with what was said earlier. tha'ts some really strange issues you got going on.
bwhy not update the outdated software?
I must have missed these posts somehow. I will check out those suggestions. And trust me, if I had the money right now, I would update my software. I'm just kind of broke. The joys of college and law school preparation... Haha. Thanks everyone for the input.
